The Government Printing Office (GPO) is conducting a survey to find out how satisfied people are with the collections and services being offered to them through the Federal Depository Library Program, of which Drake Law Library is a part.

Drake Law Library is Now Mobile

We are happy to announce the launch of the Drake Law Library mobile Web site at http://www.law.drake.edu/library/m/.

Users will be able to link to the hours, directions, library contact information (phone, email, text messaging), databases with mobile interfaces, and more.

Currently iPhones, Android, Palm, and some Blackberry phones are supported.

IA Judicial Branch Budget Report

The Legislative Services Agency just released the Issue Review “FY 2011 Judicial Branch Budget Impact”

This report “analyzes recent activity related to the Judicial Branch budget. The Judicial Branch budget is 3.0% of the total State General Fund budget and consists of 95.0% personnel costs and 5.0% nonpersonnel costs. As of August 31, 2010, 29 Clerks of Court offices are operating on a part-time basis with reduced public hours. The remaining 70 offices are closed for two hours a day, two days a week. From February 2009 through June 2010, there were 15 court closure days.”

New Database – Foreign Law Guide

The Foreign Law Guide provides an introduction to the legal system, current codes and laws for 170 countries and jurisdictions. It also identifies secondary sources and any available English translations. Conventions and Treaties information is also provided.

New at HeinOnline – World Constitutions

HeinOnline now includes the current constitution for more than 190 countries as well as historical primary materials and constitutional analysis.

Some highlights:

The current constitution of every country in the world in its original language. Also included will be at least one English translation.

Links to scholarly articles that discuss the constitutional and political development of the country.

A bibliography of other select constitutional books about the constitutional development or the history of the government.

National Library Week, April 12-16

On Display – 25 Greatest Legal Movies

Now through Friday, March 18, the Law Library will have a display of the 25 Greatest Legal Movies. Together they have been nominated for 85 Oscars and won 31. The Law Library has all 25 movies in our collection.

The titles include: To Kill a Mockingbird, 12 Angry Men, Erin Brockovich, A Few Good Men, Chicago and My Cousin Vinny.
